Quidditch club captures 2nd place at Winterglade Welcoming Tournament

On November 30 the Waterloo Quidditch team known as the Ridgebacks competed in the Winterglade Welcoming Tournament in Scarborough, Ontario.  Nine teams from across the province gather at the University of Toronto-Scarborough campus to compete against eastern Universities.

The Ridgebacks played their first game against UTM (University of Toronto-Mississauga). Even though UTM played aggressively, the Ridgebacks claimed victory with a score of 60-10. The second game was against the favored Valhalla team (University of Toronto All-Stars). With a very close game and both teams playing aggressively, the Ridgebacks out fought the all-stars with a score of 80-60. The Waterloo Ridgebacks were now off to play Fleming College and Guelph to compete for a top three finish.

After Fleming College lost to Guelph, Waterloo would compete against them and expect a very tight match.  The Ridgebacks would however come out with loads of confidence and dominant the match to win it by a score of 50-20.

The Ridgebakcs would then face Guelph in the championship game.  They would put forth a determined effort but came up short against a very experience Guelph team losing by a score of 130-60 to finish a very respectable second place overall.

The Ridgebacks couldn't be happier with the outcome. This is the first year Waterloo has had a Quidditch team and the Ridgebacks have proven that they can compete with the best.
The Ridgebacks acknowledges the hard work of their seekers Kai Koponen and Jon Keates for catching the snitch all four consecutive games.
